I found this segment of My Freshman Year a little less interesting than the last one. I thought it was harder to relate to this section. She used more statistics in the beginning which caused me to glaze over. I do not get into statistics or understand them. She also discussed the lack of participation in the RA's meetings. I could not relate to this personally however I felt like this was a connection to A Mind at Work. A Mind At Work discussed lack of effort in work and completeness. I see a connection between that and the fact that the students did not want to participate or do things correctly. When they completed the surveys they returned them then did not participate in what they said they would. I felt like that was rude. If you really had something else to do that is one thing but just blatantly not going is not fair to anyone.

I found A Mind At Work a little more interesting than the other book. I thought it was very brief but that is what an introduction is for. I found a connection between the two books through culture and intelligence. My Freshman Year was very involved with the culture aspect towards the end and A Mind At Work also discussed intelligence. I believe there to be a link between the two aspects. For example, Asian cultures have a tendency to put more pressure on school and knowledge than other cultures. I think Americans put more pressure on the social aspect of life rather than intelligence. That being said, we still have some pressure on intelligence.
